Math & Science Camp 2024-2025: A Thrilling Celebration of Learning and Exploration

November 29, 2024 - Quezon City, Philippines – The highly anticipated Math & Science Camp 2024-2025, held at Our Lady of Sacred Heart School, concluded successfully on November 28, 2024. The event, themed “God’s Design in Motion: Carnival Physics for Curious Minds,” captivated students and educators alike, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on experiences.

The camp opened with an inspiring prayer led by Aliyah Coreen Caber, followed by opening remarks from the Camp Master and welcome remarks by Jatzin Villabroza. Ms. Tanguan then set the stage by laying out the house rules, ensuring an organized and engaging learning environment.

Engaging Seminars and Interactive Workshops

The academic portion of the camp featured two insightful seminars.

• Seminar #1: Basic Kinematics: An Application to Carnival Rides

• Seminar #2: Conservation of Energy

These sessions allowed students to explore physics principles in a practical setting, demonstrating real-world applications in amusement park rides and motion dynamics.

Participants also took part in hands-on workshops, including:

• Workshop #1: Roller Coaster Designing & Motion Sensing Using Mobile App (Physics Toolbox Suite)

• Workshop #2: Energy on a Roller Coaster

These activities sparked creativity and critical thinking as students applied physics concepts to create their own working models.

Exciting Competitions and Activities

Beyond the seminars and workshops, students engaged in the Math & Science Olympics, featuring a nine-station challenge that tested their knowledge and problem-solving skills. The event promoted teamwork, analytical thinking, and a spirit of friendly competition.

Memorable Field Trip Experience

As a highlight of the camp, students embarked on an educational field trip to Omniverse Museum, Quezon City Memorial Circle, Science Xpedition and Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The Omniverse Museum provided a fascinating glimpse into cinematic science fiction and advanced technology exhibits, while Enchanted Kingdom showcased physics concepts in amusement rides, reinforcing their learning through thrilling experiences.
