November 6, 2024 – The Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School (OLSHS) community took a proactive step toward disaster preparedness by conducting an Earthquake Drill on November 6, 2024. The activity aimed to equip students, faculty, and staff with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively during an earthquake, ensuring the safety of everyone on campus.

The event began with a School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) orientation led by the SDRRM team. During the session, participants learned about earthquake safety protocols, emphasizing the "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" technique. They were reminded of the importance of staying calm, seeking cover under sturdy furniture, and avoiding windows or heavy objects during tremors.

Following the orientation, the earthquake drill commenced. At the sound of the alarm, students, teachers, and staff swiftly executed evacuation procedures, moving in an orderly manner to designated safe zones. Faculty members and school personnel guided the participants, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.

The drill concluded with a debriefing session, where key takeaways and areas for improvement were discussed. The OLSHS Talangpaz administration expressed gratitude to everyone for their active participation and commitment to safety. Special thanks were extended to the disaster preparedness team for their efforts in organizing the drill and ensuring its success.

This activity reinforced the importance of disaster preparedness and highlighted the school’s dedication to creating a safe and secure environment for its community.
